AFTER SCHOOL ROCK BAND -with Charlie Smith

Join a rock band, learn to play music in a collaborative setting, and make friends! Sign up individually, with a friend, or with current bandmates. Participants will form a band and meet for practice at the House of Music once a week after school for 6 weeks at a time. We'll learn to perform songs from a variety of modern and classic rock bands including Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Nirvana, and more. At the end of each session we'll perform the set of songs we learned in a concert.

After School Rock Band -Thursdays: 5:00-6:30pm
1st session dates: 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9
2nd session dates: 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 3/30

Cost: $210

Age: 10+, must have at least 1 year experience on their instrument

Advanced After School Rock Band
Fridays: 4:30-6:00pm
1st session dates: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10
2nd session dates: 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31
Length: 6 weeks
Cost: $210
Age: 13+, must have 2 or more years on their instrument, ability to read chord charts, and prior performance experience

Performances
1st session: 6:00pm, Friday 2/10 at the Lake Harriet House of Music open mic night
2nd session: 6:00pm, Friday 3/31 at the Lake Harriet House of Music open mic night

Sign up early as space is limited. The bands are open to guitar, bass, drums/percussion, keyboard, and vocals. Singing and playing multiple instruments will be encouraged.

Teacher Charlie Smith has played in several Twin Cities bands since 2008. He has a B.A. in Music and has taught at the House of Music since 2011.
